Where has summer gone? Can you believe it is August? Well, it is here and we might as well roll with it. Today I am going to link up up Farley over at Oh Boy 4th Grade for her monthly linky party. First, I am going to share some of my classroom pics.
I have spent this week getting my room ready. Is it completely finished? No, but it will do until I return to work the Week of the 12th with 4 PD days and 1 work day before the children arrive.
I have a small rectangular shaped room. I have no windows, just one door to the outside and one door to the hallway.
This is what you would see if you entered my room through the hallway. I have grouped 20 student desk in the middle of the room. My small group table and teacher desk is to the right of the door. I have a group meeting area in front of our magnetic white board. (Sorry for the poor photo)
This is the view when coming in through the outside door. I have a second meeting area to the right of the room.
This is the view from the back right corner.
This is the view from my teacher area.
As you can see I still have boxes stacked on top of the student closet area. I am like many other teachers with lack of storage. I need some ideas on how to make my sink area more functional for storage and student use. Any ideas???
Now for my August Currently...
I enjoy being at home with my two girls. It seems that the television is only background noise to their talking and laughing. I love to hear them together. They are also loving to play Just Dance.
I am loving the way my room is coming together. I have thrown away so much stuff this week. I have a few more areas to organize around my sink and above the children's closet. I hope to get that taken care of before August 19.
Thinking about supper. I have no idea what I am going to feed my hungry family tonight. It may be a sandwich night.
Wanting to get my literacy centers finished up and organized. It is a very challenging task. I am determined to finish.
What I need and my Back To School must haves are self explanatory. I think several of us have similar B2S items.
I am off to read others are currently doing....

Your classroom is looking great!! I know what you mean about throwing stuff away; it just seems to accumulate, doesn't it? :)

Hello Mechele! I found you through the Currently Linky Party. I am jealous that you are this far into setting up your room. We haven't been "cleared" to enter just yet. 4 days of PD! WOWZERS that seems like a lot of PD. We normally have 2 at the beginning of school. I almost always end of up thinking about all the other things I could be doing instead of being in PD. :)

I love looking at classrooms and how schools are so different! I love yours! The outside door, does that take you to the playground? Does it stay locked? Do you have a key to get in whenever you want? Just curious! ;)

Creative Ideas for the Upper Elementary Classroom
It takes me outside. It stays locked at all times. However, we have picnic tables outside the door to eat break on in the afternoons. I also load my bus outside that door.
DeleteYour room looks great. Looks like you are ready to go, love your student group areas!
