Need Help Again...

Hello All!  I can't seem to get everything together.  This is not related to my classroom, however, I hope you can help me.
I need some ideas. I have been asked to help the Band Boosters raise some much need funds. My oldest daughter is in the band, which consists of about 50 people. We need to raise about $5,000 to help cover the costs for the fall. These costs include travel and scholorships for additional training for the students (I love this one!, I wish we could offer more)

Do you have a great fundraising idea that you would like to share? I would like to raise this at one time and be done with it. If you know what I mean.

Please help me!

  1. My alma mater had "Cow Patty Bingo" last Saturday night. They sectioned off the football field into 1 square yard sections (1,000 of them) and sold them for $1.00. The winner got $250.00. The FFA received $750.00. I thought they should have given the winner $100.00 and kept $900.00 for the club. The big laugh was that the cow (after decorating a bingo square so a winner was named) jumped the fence and was on the loose for the night. :)

  2. Another thought: you could ask for donations for different themes and create baskets to raffle off for $1.00. Our PTSO does that...a beach theme, movie theme, game night theme, spa/nail theme, hunters theme, etc.

  3. My band in high school used to sell candy, which was easy (since high schoolers will eat it!) but you have to make sure you have permission to sell it. We also sold advertising spots on band t-shirts.

    Good luck!

  4. we've done 50/50 raffles, and held a dance we charged $1 per student to get in and then sold snacks for $1 inside (candy bars, chips, and water) we are a pretty small school (400) students but we raised over 900 dollars at the dance! Of course we had to have several volunteers to chaperone and we don't have many other dances so the kids were very excited about it!

  5. Do you have a good baker nearby? We live near the Amish community. And some groups sell their pies for $10.00 a piece. They place the orders and then they are made, frozen and then delivered with directions on how to cook them or unthaw them. See if you can find someone to make you some pies.

  6. Hi Mechele! I'm just stopping by to say THANK YOU for my gifts!!! I can't even begin to tell you how much I LOVE the coasters!! Actually, my whole family is in love with them. We are leaving in 21 days for Disney, so they are a hit!!!! I also love the fleur de lis picture. I'm having to fight my daughter off of it! She wants it for her music room, but I'm holding my ground! It looks right at home in my office. Thanks again. Sorry it took so long for me to thank you. I've had strep--oh what fun!! Keep an eye out on my blog for a proper thank you!

  7. When I was a cheerleader way back when... we went around to different businesses in the city and asked if they would give a donation in exchange for us taking a picture (in uniform) next to their sign and putting it in our calendar and game programs. I guess in a sense they are paying for advertisement for their company, we made lots of money doing it!
I have passed on the Lovely Blog Award to you. Check it out on my latest blog post.
