100 Day {Part I}

Hip Hip Hooray! Today is One Hundred Day!

Today started off very rocky. We had severe storms through our state last night and our school delayed opening by 2 hours. This limited our time in the classroom because we only had a 5 hr day. We spent one hour out of our classroom due to P.E. and computer lab. Another hour for lunch, break and transitions. So that left us a grand total of 3 hours for instruction.

(Inspired by Pinterest)

Students were give the number 1, 0, 0 and had to create a design. I ended up having to do this first because the children came in so unlike themselves. Most children didn't sleep well the night before and was extremely chatty. They love to draw and this helped them calm down and prepare for the day.

This was very time consuming! We began math by reviewing the hundred chart, number of the day and equations. We discussed how we were going to come up with 100 equations that represent 100. Students then went to their seat with their recording paper to begin working. We worked in short increments. I frequently called the students back to group area and we listed our equations in groups of ten. Students referred back to the 100 chart frequently. I was thrilled that we actually finished the project!

Due to the short day in the classroom, we did not finish everything I had planned. I will place the rest in centers for this week and will have more 100 week pics and activities by the weekend.

Voting continues until Thursday! I would love to have your vote.
